There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.
Socrates, as quoted by Diogenes Laertius in Lives of Eminent Philosophers, II, 31
The tests below constitute a series designed to measure the breadth of your acquired knowledge about a variety of topics using a multiple-choice format. These tests cover material that is commonly described as general knowledge or trivia, and include some overlap with tests of vocabulary knowledge.
Each test has 10 items. In each item, you will be asked a general knowledge question. You will be given four answer choices to choose from. There is only one correct answer.
These tests are an assessment of the ability to recall learned information gained from formal education or personal experience and to reason about which answer is most likely given the information you are able to recall. The latter ability can be described as the ability to carry out a process of elimination using background knowledge.
The item type found in these tests resembles several item types that are common on professional intelligence tests, all requiring the ability to recall knowledge belonging to a variety of subject matter domains. The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, for example, includes an Information Subtest. The items on this subtest require subjects to orally answer questions about acquired information concerning a variety of topics.
